Tunji Adeniji

Director of Facilities and Safety

Tunji Adeniji

In this position since April 2008, Tunji oversees the day-to-day protection of people and property, which includes ensuring the safety of MoMA’s collection, and maintenance of the facilities. Prior to his current position, he was the Senior Director of Security Operations at New York University, where he worked for 17 years.

Born in Lagos, Nigeria, Tunji has been a resident of New York City for over two decades. Having been an international student at City College of New York, where the student body is very diverse, Tunji feels at home amid the ambience of The Museum of Modern Art. As he puts it, “I enjoy meeting people from all over the world when I walk through the Museum galleries. If anyone wants to advance their knowledge about the arts, MoMA is the place to do so.”

He loves to play tennis and is involved in numerous community services, including serving as soccer coach for Harlem Youth. In his spare time, Tunji watches English and Italian football tournaments, and he is looking forward to the upcoming World Cup football tournament in Brazil 2014.

Diana Simpson

Director of Management Information and Government and Community Relations

Diana Simpson

As Director of Management Information, Diana and her team are responsible for the development of comprehensive data and information resources along with the ongoing strategic assessment and study of program trends and effectiveness such as forecasting and reporting on attendance and admissions revenue. Residing within this area is the Museum’s tourism development arm, working to foster the Museum’s relationships and associations with a wide variety of external travel and tourism-related businesses and partners, both domestically and around the world.

Many of you have gotten to know Diana through the Government and Community Relations Department, which she also oversees. Working alongside Eugenia Spektor, she supports the mission of Government and Community Relations by providing Museum information, perspective, and resources to our local Midtown community and the city at large.

Diana has been with MoMA for 14 years. From 1999-2012, she served as the head of Visitor Services, in 2006 she assumed oversight of Government and Community Relations, and finally, in 2012, took the lead in forming the new department of Management Information. Diana is a native New Yorker, born and raised in Queens. She graduated as an architecture major from the High School of Art and Design (only a few blocks from MoMA!) and went on to New York University’s Stern School of Business, where she earned a BS In economics. Diana has worked as a financial analyst in the publishing industry and as a land-use planner on the West Side Highway redevelopment project. From 1992 to 1999, she worked in the National Park Service as the Chief of Interpretation at the Statue of Liberty National Monument and the Ellis Island Immigration Museum. During that time she also served as the site manager of Castle Clinton National Monument and Federal Hall National Memorial.

Diana is an avid follower of European football and she also enjoys hiking in upstate New York. Fun facts: Diana wore a park ranger uniform, complete with a “Smokey the Bear hat,” during the nine years she was in the National Park Service. Her first-ever visit to MoMA was when she was seven years old—she won a contest as a Brownie to visit the Museum along with girls from other Brownie troops throughout Queens.
