Wednesday, October 23, 2024
7:00 p.m. Cocktails
8:00 p.m. Dinner
Join us at The Museum of Modern Art for the 2024 MoMA Film Benefit, as we honor actor, director, and Hollywood legend Samuel L. Jackson.
Now in its 16th year, the MoMA Film Benefit raises money for the acquisition and preservation of key film works, and provides funding to support the Museum’s groundbreaking film exhibitions.
In celebration of this cause, the evening honors an individual for their significant impact on the film industry. Samuel L. Jackson’s journey in Hollywood is a testament to resilience, talent, and unwavering dedication. With a career spanning over four decades, he has become one of the most iconic and versatile actors of our time. His work has not only entertained millions, and grossed billions, but has also influenced the trajectory of modern cinema in significant ways.
This evening, presented together with CHANEL, will feature a red carpet, cocktails, a seated dinner, and an award program highlighting Samuel L. Jackson’s remarkable career.
All proceeds from the evening benefit the Debra and Leon Black Family Film Center of The Museum of Modern Art’s Department of Film.

About the Department of Film
Founded in 1935 as the Film Library, the collection now includes over 30,000 films and 1.5 million film stills—the strongest international film collection in the United States—and incorporates all periods and genres. We recognize film as its own distinctive art form, and are proud to be the stewards of historically significant works of film by a wide range of filmmakers.
From Citizen Kane to Casablanca to Rashomon, the vastness of MoMA’s film collection includes the original negatives of the Biograph Company collection, including Lime Kiln Club Field Day (1913), the first American feature with an all-Black cast (starring the popular musical theater performer Bert Williams). Through our commitment to film preservation, we have restored works by some of the most revered African American filmmakers, including Charles Burnett, Melvin Van Peebles, and Spencer Williams.
Film at MoMA is made possible by CHANEL.
