Adam Wingard reconsiders the slasher idea of the “final girl” with his brilliant take on home-invasion horror in You’re Next. When the semi-estranged Davison siblings reunite for their wealthy parents’ anniversary at the weekend estate, their family drama quickly turns irrelevant when a group of masked “animals” quickly and systematically start killing everyone in the house. But their chances of survival are reclaimed by the revelation that one of the victims turns out to be the toughest killer of them all. With great kills and an explosive family dynamic, You’re Next is an unsettling reminder that anything can happen to us at any time, challenging the idea of implicit trust in our well-being, even in one’s own family. Keep an eye out for appearances by independent horror legends Barbara Crampton, Ti West, Amy Seimetz, and Larry Fessenden.
