Postales de Leningrado (Postcards from Leningrad)
2007. Venezuela. Written and directed by Mariana Rondón. With Laureano Olivares, Greisy Mena, Haydee Faverola. During Venezuela’s armed revolutionary struggle of the 1960s, a young guerilla woman gives birth to a daughter. Seen from her child’s point of view, their life of hiding places, fake names, and disguises seems like a game. Confidently balancing the drama of revolution with the capacity of children to dream, the film’s colorful universe blurs the line between reality and the madness of war. In Spanish; English subtitles. 90 min.
